Jeff Combos and Karen Partridge were friends of Sophie, and later Edmund, when they all lived in the Bay Area.  Later they moved to Seattle (and later yet, so did Edmund and Sophie but that was a coincidence.)  Jeff and Karen got married on October 6, 1996.
