Night Shift

Volume 3, Episode 8

Thursday, November 25th, 1999.  It's Thanksgiving.  " Parker has been repeatedly invited to feast with his mom, who insists on cooking.  Mom would also like Mike's sister Rhonda and the kids to be there; the kids want to see Uncle Mike, but Rhonda would (understandably) rather have dinner with dad in 'Salem Heights.  Mike manoeuvres mom into giving up on this idea, promising to bring the kids soon, and spends Thanksgiving with mom (and a spare turkey he brought).

Segama spends the day with her family from out of town.  Ito Amiko is there, and has invited over numerous animal rights activists.  Loony Leo is there, as are Hong Kong Fubar, Science Chicken, The Mongoose, and Jack Rabbit.  They ask Segama to join them and form a new super-league that will both defend the city and promote animal rights; she accepts and they for the Wild Thingz under Jack Rabbit's leadership.  The party soon spreads to the neighbouring apartments.

Johnny Mortis alternates between bars and churches, checking the pulse of Neopolis after several days of absence.  He learns that Constantin's people are trying to take control of NoHo through multiple points of entry, form getting street girls on The Strip hooked on drugs then embraced, to taking over the porn movie industry in Saltpetre Square.  Devadasi is fighting back and some of the members want to go "Sin City-style."  Mortis' friend Di Marcos may be tough and fast but has been unable to be everywhere at once.  His girls (and boys) are starting to say that he may not be able to protect them.  Some what to join Devadasi, others to cut a deal with Constantin (not a good idea.)  Mortis decides to redirect the action and skillfully spreads the word that Archie Nemesis' organization is ripe for takeover.

Lt. Therius works through the holiday.
