As a single action you may do one of the following
 

• Fire off one salvo of missiles from a pod or launcher, or multiple salvos from linked pods or launchers.  Each salvo is considered a separate shot, and a separate attack roll is required.  Missiles may not be used for "called shots".  There are special rules concerning missile combat.  See Missiles for more information.
• Fire one ranged weapon, or a group of two or more "linked" ranged weapons.  Each weapon is considered a separate shot, and a separate attack roll is required.
• Throw an item held in your hands.  Throw distance is as follows:

Note that all energy weapons start the game charged.

During an attack the Defender (the one getting shot at) may perform some defensive actions.  Details on defensive actions permitted in response to a missile attack are mentioned in the section on missiles above.  However, the Defender may also launch a Smoke/Chaff pod in response to any sort of shooting attack.  Doing so uses the Defender's next action.
