My name is spelled "Sophie Lagacé". The symbol on the
last letter is an "acute accent", which you can obtain by holding the "Alt"
key and typing "130". Misspelling my name does not help your image
or your grade...
In the same spirit, misspelling places names that you have been seeing
for the last two to four years, such as "Arcata", "Humboldt", "Eureka",
or "McKinleyville", is highly unimpressive. A typo is one thing,
consistent misspelling another - the latter being worth a 10% deduction
per occurence. In other words, the first mistake is free, and subsequent
ones are costly.
The words "effect" and "affect" are used ad nauseam in environmental
impact assessment work, so know when to use each one. They are not
synonymous.
