EVERWAY CONTEST #1

"CREATE AN EVERYPERSON"


Comments:  This contest never really amounted to much - only two people submitted characters for it, and I pretty much forgot all about it during our move to Seattle.  Originally it was Everway Contest #2, with Everway Contest #1 being "Name the Spherewalker Groups of the Chamber Platinum", which was a running gag for a couple of weeks during the game.  I decided to renumber this contest because a) I didn't have some of the original material for "Name the Spherewalkers" b) this was the first contest that wasn't spontaneous, and c) I just felt like it.

Here were the contest rules:


Its been a really long time since I've held an Everway contest, so I think I'll hold another one.  This is a pretty simple contest actually - its called CREATE AN EVERYPERSON.  The object is to create the most interesting character that you can using the Everway system, but using only 12 points, not 20.  Here are the rules
 
  1. All characters created must be from one of the  families of Everway named in the Playing Guide, excluding those families which have a seat on the Council (Crookstaff, Crow, Digger, Moondance, Scratch, Snakering, Stonebreaker), and the Emerald.
  2. If you are already playing a character from a particular family you cannot write a character from that family (OK, this is shamelessly aimed at Paul Andrew King.  Sorry.)
  3. All characters should be built on 12 points only, rather than 20.  These points need not be evenly distributed, however.  All elements must have a specialization, as with any other character.
  4. All special abilities for these characters cost one point more than normal - a "0-point" ability such as Marching Song would cost 1 point, while an Ape Companion would cost 5 points (instead of 4).
  5. All characters should be completely developed, with motives, virtues, faults, fates, and background stories.
  6. All characters should be sent to me privately.  Once I have them all I will post them on the website or via e-mail and everyone can vote on which character they think is the best.
  7. All character submissions are due by September 6th [Heh heh - ha - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! - Ed]
  8. If you are not interested in participating, please let me know, as it will allow me to close the contest early if all the participants have submitted their characters.  [As above - Ed]


All the characters will be posted, but the winner will get a chance to play his or her character in a cameo role in the Everway saga (others may be allowed this privilege as well, but the winner certainly will be).
