Another alternate setting for 7th Sea:
|
Combat rules are pretty much identical to those given in the 7th Sea rules. A few points are clarified below.
Armour. Armour use is practically non-existent, and so no rules are provided for now.
Damage. For hand-to-hand weapons, the Damage rolled is always (Brawn + Weapon Damage), with the Brawn adding to the unkept dice, which is why some weapons have a number of unkept dice lower than their kept dice (e.g., 1k2). For ranged weapons, it's just (Weapon Damage).
Example 1: Lord T'gai e'Lanya, using a knife in hand-to hand combat with his Brawn of 2 does (2 + 1k2) = 3k2 in Damage. If he throws it instead, he does effectively 1k1 in Damage.Flash Stones. Flash stones do one Dramatic Wounds per 10 pts the Brawn roll fails by, instead of per 20 pts like other weapons, i.e., they act as Firearms in 7th Sea, except for the fact that they may hold more than one charge if they have been prepared thus, and they cannot be recharged in combat. (Not that there ever was any point in trying to recharge a firearm in combat in 7th Sea!)
Raises. Raises can be taken to increase the number of unkept damage dice.
Example 2: Lord T'gai e'Lanya, in the example above, throws his knife but takes one raise to increase Damage. If he succeeds in hitting his target, he will do (1+1k2) = 2k2 in Damage; he can now keep both dice since he threw that many. If he took two raises and succeeded, he would do (2 + 1k2) = 3k2 in Damage.
