Aza Djemenou

Filia Sedgwick, follower of Guernicus.  Quaesitor, Mentem specialist, and now Prima of Los Ermitos.

Aza was twelve when her family sold her to become a rich Rumi's servant.  What they did not realize was that the buyer was in fact a magus who had spotted the Gift in young Aza.  Sedgwick the Black took Aza as his apprentice to fulfill his obligation to the order, and trained her intensively to get the chore over with as quickly as possible.  He was thorough in his teaching, however, for he took his duty very seriously.

Aza's parents eventually learned that their daughter was now studying sorcery instead of being a concubine or servant, and were ashamed of their daughter.  Her father even tried to pry her from the Covenant of Castrum Silvestrus, offering to buy her back, but Aza refused to leave.  Her fate is a source of shame to her clan.

Instead of specializing in Vim magic like her pater, Aza concentrated on Mentem.  She has not forgotten her Moslem heritage, and is trying to conciliate Hermetic traditions with Islamic ones.  She prefers diplomacy and reason over confrontation, and takes her responsibilities as a Quaesitor very seriously.  Some might say that she cares more about justice than mercy, but she is scrupulously fair.

When Hakeem of Mercere had to leave to fulfill his duties as a Redcap, Aza inherited the job of Prima of Los Ermitos.
