This recruitment advertisement appeared in the Gaceta de San Cristobal and on placards around the port in Octavus 1668.

 

 
 
His Majesty's Privateer Maris Stella
 
Commanded by Capt. Constanza Aldana y Orduño, Who has been on several cruises, and met with great Success in Barcino and against Montaigne and Pyrates.


All Gentlemen Volunteers; Seamen, and able bodied Landsmen, who wish to acquire Riches and Honour, are invited to repair on board the lugger Maris Stella, now laying in San Cristobal Harbour; mounting Twelve Carriage Guns, bound on a Cruize to the Northward for four Months against the Montaigne, and all His Majesty's enemies, and then to return to this Harbour.

The vessel Maris Stella, in the Opinion of every Person who has seen her is looked upon as a most excellent Cruizer, and no Vessel yet built was ever calculated for sailing faster, and making good Weather.

All volunteers will be received on board the said ship – or by Captain Constanza Orduño, at her Rendezvous at San Elmo's Tavern near the Market House, where they will meet with all due Encouragement, and the best Treatment; Proper Advance will be given.
