Memorable Quotes

In-Game Quotes

Unfortunately, we tend to, uh, well, forget the "memorable" quotes from the campaign before we get around to writing them down!  Here are a few, in roughly chronological order.

Doña Salvadora Veronica: "Is the moon not lovely tonight, Lucas?"
Don Lucas: "The moon?"
Doña Veronica: "The large thing in the sky.  The smaller things are stars."
Don Lucas: "I haven't looked up all night."

King Sandoval to Miranda: "Who is your good-looking friend?"
Miranda, aside: "I run my 'good friend' through!"

Brother Cadfaello: "Take two of these and call me in the morning."

Don Lucas:  "Miranda, I... no, damnit! Veronica!"
Doña Veronica: "Ricardo never compares me to HIS sister."
The GM: "If you combine the two you get a veranda."

Don Lucas (to Doña Veronica): "I'm afraid I must tell you I love you."

Don Lucas: "I have to leave the country."
Doña Constanza: "Who's pregnant?"

GM (as Anna, of sorts): "Hello, I am the world's only male Vodacce Witch.  Do you like my veil?"

Lucas (to Miranda, who was fond of hiding in his luggage to avoid being left out of adventures): "Bring Chim Chim."

Doña Miranda: "Did she run screaming from your manhood?"
Don Lucas: "No, she ran screaming to it."

Sebastian: "Brother Cadfaello will be playing whack the weasel at the trap door."

Don Lucas: "Ricardo, could you hold me up?"
Richard 'Ricardo' O'Bannon: "Umm... hold yourself up!  No one is driving the carriage!"   (In an epic fight with musketeers on top of a careening carriage.)

Don Lucas, watching Ricardo beat a musketeer with a carriage trunk:  "He's being trunk-ated."

GM:  "Look, it is a panzerhand made of paper maché und a tin saber!"

Doña Constanza  (with a rolled up map):  "Bad, bad Montaigne dog."

GM (to Sebastian): "Well, you can always climb horizontally like Spiderman."
Miranda (who has a phobia of spiders): "I start stomping on Sebastian."

Fergus: "Ha, ha!  Castillian dog!  Hire me or I shall kill you!  Ha ha!"   (WAY failed haggling roll)

Pablo Urchino del Gutter: "The Montaignes, they are pigs!"

Doña Constanza: "I'll get the horses..."  (Constanza's reaction to the many tense moments of social faux-pas in Barcino was to get the horses and bring them under a window, waiting for Lucas and Co. to jump out.  Most of the time, an unnecessary precaution, but one is never too careful.)

Baronet Vlad: "To keep the dragon from eating us, we'll cover ourselves in Picante's cooking."

Doña Constanza to Sebastiano Biancastro Villanova: "Would you like me to finish this one for you?"  (After dispatching 5 brutes out of a squad of 6 to steal their uniforms, while Sebastiano tried fancy moves and kept missing.)

Baronet Vlad.  "But I don't WANT to be cured!"  (Stated while the character was in boar form).

Red Thorfild (of the Vesten Raiders): "You mock our customs!"
Doña Constanza: "No, just you personally."

Gris Hallisdottir (of the Vesten Raiders): "You do not like our hospitality?"
Doña Constanza: "Your hospitality is very forceful."

The party had just unleashed a Drachen on the city of Freiburg, from the caves under the Castillan embassy.  Lucas is surveying the resulting carnage, when Bryan [first Vlad's and later Mendoza's player] says:
"And you thought the Gaius chose bad ambassadors."

Niklaus Trague [as impersonated by Bryan]: "I will destroy Freiburg before I let it convert to D20!"

Don Juan Fernandez (new Castillan ambassador to Freiburg, commenting on Eisenfürst Nicklaus Trague): "He... he is a PIG!"
Don Lucas: "Yes.  But he cleans up very nicely."

Don Lucas (in a duel): "Your men are dying, señor Stick!"
El Baston: "Then perhaps you can say hello to them."
Don Lucas: "I'll allow you to announce me."

Don Lucas: "I finally have my merit badge in double-parry!"

Don Lucas: "We can go back to the Queen of the Sky and tell her that the ogre is Gann..."

Don Lucas (in Thean, because he can't speak Castillan anymore): "Something just whizzeth by."

Torvo Espada: "I challenge you to a duel!"
Don Lucas: "Can't it wait?  We're a little busy!"  (In the middle of a supernatural storm, trying to rescue a man from drowning.)

Constanza: "Queen Morella said that she couldn't eliminate the knot of betrayal, only move it.  This must be the time she moved the betrayal to."
Lucas, aside: "Everybody turns and looks at Ferdinand..."

(Discussing trade agreements with the Vodacce merchant Benito Scogna)
Lucas: "Maybe we should see if he can trade Tiny Lucas?  That would solve... – Why am I dignifying that stupid name?!!  (to Ferdinand)  Name him something else!!"

Don Lucas 'the Kingmaker' de Aldana: "I apologize in advance for all the mistakes I intend to make."

Don Lucas: "Constanza, once again your powers of nagging impress even me."  [After Constanza talked Cardinal Verdugo into releasing former Montaigne ambassador Michel Dubois d'Arrent rather than executing him.]

GM: "The Vendel introduces himself as Mus Borwin, and his companion..."
Ken: "...as Sqvirrel?"

Constanza: "The Sidhe lord said the curse would be lifted when all the people of Canguine manage to be civil to one another for an entire day."
Melisandre: "Well, that won't happen.  Lucas is here."

Sophie to Ken: "Dude!  You're a monkey again!"

Pavan Haroon (at the Temple of Ravana): "Would you like to supersize your sacrifice?"

Xue-jia Xue-sheng Yong yuan (describing the Seven Heroes' transportation to Tiakhar): "What a piece of junk!"

Queen Sara: "What are you doing here?"
Don Juan: "Just passing through."
Queen Sara: "Through my bedchamber?"

Just Fooling Around Making Up Quotes

Who says we have to wait for our characters to say something interesting?  Here are some alternate versions of El Vago's famous quote:

"Live For Castille, Bleed For her People, Die in her Name.  Be resurrected in the name of Theus..." – Ferdinand de la Reina del Mar

"Live for Castille, Bleed for her people, Die in her name.  Be resurrected by Theus.  Scare the hell out of Don Juan.  Be pardoned by the Church.  Be Evicted by Don Lucas.  Be loved by your dog anyway."  – Edmund the Evil GM

*takes deep breath*
"Live For Castille, Bleed For her People, Die in her Name lose your land have your sister disown you find your mom burned to death learn how to play the guitar, just to have some ugly claw-with-tentacles-thing get stuck on your hand and keep you from playing it, don't forget choosing a name like Don Juan and then not putting any points into Seduction then become best friends with Ferdinand who gets his head ripped off by a dessicated-ape-thing who then comes back from the dead and scares the crap out of you right before he turns you in to the Inquisition!"
*whew*
– Don Juan Orduño

"Live for Ussura.  Try not to bleed.  Die old and happy.  Drink lots of vodka.  Try to keep from getting killed by your cousin."  (That applies to Juan and Lucas too!)  – Baronet Vlad Nikolovich

"Born in Castille, Montaignes's People bleed you out of house and home, Die in vain..."   – Ferdinand de la Reina del Mar.

Quotes from Other 7th Sea Campaigns

And here are some more cool quotes, submitted from other 7th Sea games:

"It is not that I am arrogant, sir.  It is simply that I am better than you."
– Alejandro (de) Villanova, Privateer and Captain of the Frigate Vendetta's Raptor [Submitted by Chris Bruscas]

"You can't base your opinion of the whole Vaticine Church on Cardinal Verdugo and his Inquisitors. It's like comparing apples and flaming jackasses."
– Brother Valerii Sabhaya, Ussuran wandering priest [Submitted by Christian MacLeod]

Some quotes from Poney Vincent's 7th Sea campaigns "Tales of the Red Avenger" and "Los Casablanqueños", submitted by Gordon Vincent":

The party is being attacked by hordes of Ghouls; Gerhard is swamped. It's Rolf's action:
"I'm gonna head on over and start picking monkeys off the Gerhard tree."

Gerhard is currently in the parlor of Dinora Lucani, the most beautiful courtesan in Kirk.
GM: "So, what are you going to do with the rest of the afternoon?"
Gerhard (not really paying attention): "Uh, polish my sword... " (table dissolves into peals of laughter)

Aliya: "So, Henri, I guess you haven't had much experience with cattle, have you?"
Henri: "Do peasants count?"

GM: "So, what do you want to requisition from the Quartermaster?"
Quinn: "A stunt double!"

And a series of quotes from the Old Ways Strange Ways game, Down Under, submitted by Nick Finn:

(While on a boat from Ussura to Kirk, the Ship is pursued by a Pirate Vessel.  Standing at the bow is a figure posing dramatically, hair blowing in the win, cape billowing)
Rene: *has his Starcrossed Hubris activated by the GM and gets all doe-eyed and starts scribbling poetry to recite to her*
Karl: *shielding his eyes from the sun and peering at the pursuing vessel* "Rene..... I think that's a man"
Rene: *thud* *thud* *thud* (Rene beating his head on the railing)

Karl's Rules when crossing the Schwartzen Walden:

  1. Don't touch the trees
  2. Don't attack the local wildlife
  3. Don't touch the trees
  4. Don't talk to anything you see
  5. Don't touch the trees
  6. If anything attacks the Horses, let the horse be taken, it should give us time to get away.
  7. Don't touch the trees
  8. If something attacks you and tries to drag you off the horse, try not to touch the trees.
  9. In case you missed it, don't touch the trees.

(The group of 4 rides over the hill to find a small Army of 4 Inquisitors and 40 Troops, who they know are waiting to kill them.)
Karl: "We outnumber them, should we give them a chance to surrender?"

Angus: (using his traditional Warcry while riding through a Montaign Military Camp, brandishing his Hammer) "Castrate The Heathens!!"

Diego: (after seeing Rene challenged to a duel by being punched in the back of the head) "I'm not exactly happy about this."

Karl: (After Skinning a Ussuran Pyeryem Mage in bear form while it was still alive) "And THAT'S why you dont mess with our horses!"

"There are only two types of people in Vodacce, Foes and people Rene hasnt met yet."

Diego's Player (While facing a large group of Musketeer Brutes in Ussura) "Hmmmm, I think 9 raises should be enough --" (and proceeds to roll enough)

A series of quotes submitted by Nathalie Holt, from various 7th Sea campaigns:

Evalis Cortiz (After silently listening to a roughly 20 minute discussion on the importance of some Crescent artifacts being smuggled on the party's ship, after being shot at by scores of Vodacce): ". . .You mean I risked my life for your goddamn crosses?!"

GM (at the beginning of our first ever session): "Ok, you walk into the tavern. What now?"
Zane, Avalonian explorer (attempting to quickly get the party together): "I do the obvious thing. Stand on a chair and shout in every language I know that I'm looking to hire on a crew."

Bad Luck Bella (a smuggler, in response to a description of Tiakar): "Slavery?! I love it! Your cargo works for you!"

Olrik and Mike (child heroes-in-training doing a knee bashing attack during a slave revolt on the Prophet's Fury): "DEATH FROM BELOW!!!"

GM: "Right, so, the crazy Castillian bitch–"
Natalie: "Evalis."
GM: "That's what I said."

Crewmember: "Your orders, Captain?"
Mad Molly Boyd (who just received command of the ship, which was being pursued, from Teodoro): "Raise the white flag, ramming speed!"

Mad Molly: "The name's Molly Boyd, some call me mad, some call me Cap'n, but I prefer to call me nice."

Everyone at some point: "So, are you angry, or crazy?"
Mad Molly: *smiles devilishly*

During the Erebus Cross module...

Robb: "I guess we're attacking the brute squad, since anyone with a name is all Evalis..."  (Ah, the joys of a fiery temper and high reputation.)

Evalis: "I hate the Montaigne!!"
Berek: "I hate the Montaigne too!!"
Evalis: "Death to all Montaigne!!"
Berek: "Would you join me in my cabin?!"

Pyotyr: "He has the fire of the dance in his pants... for you."
