Barcino

Barcino is the gate through which the Montaigne invasion poured through Castille.  Although the full story has yet to be uncovered, it is common knowledge that the ruling Ochoa family betrayed the city to Montaigne in exchange for more power.  What is not clear yet is who was a traitor and who was not.  The patriarch of the family, don Efron Sandoval de Ochoa, escaped the invasion and fled to Vaticine City to plead with King Sandoval to spare his family.  Although he was pardoned by the king, the Inquisition then made him disappear and has been picking out the rest of the Ochoa clan.

Meanwhile, Barcino has been occupied by the Montaigne forces as a strategic port, a stepping stone to resupplying their armies in Occupied Castille, and the key to controlling trade on the Great Trade River.

The heroes have been through the city of Barcino a few times, most prominently for an important adventure that spread from the month of Quintus 1668 through the middle of Julius of the same year.  Lucas's ex-fiancé doña Salvadora is now married to the governor of Torres, don Marcao Ontivares de Ochoa, and her father don Raphael Rodriguez de Torres is the mayor of the city.  The heroes distinguished themselves in a raid on the Montaigne-controlled port installation, led by Admiral Enrique Orduño. 

The city of Barcino is the only portion of Castillan territory which remained in Montaigne hands when the peace treaty was signed in Quartus 1669.  It was ceded by King Sandoval at Cardinal Verdugo's insistence, in order to avoid protracted negotiations.

Red dots indicate sites featured during the campaign.  The sites of interest are listed below.

• (1) The Montaigne Port Authority Building: The heroes have sneaked in a few times at night to inspect the supplies stored there and peruse the records.
• (6) The Port: Site of the battle during the Barcino Raid led by Admiral Enrique Orduño.  The heroes fought a glorious battle there (except for any heroes who might have been replaced by giant shape-shifting bugs.)
• (7) The Governor's Palace: Doña Salvadora and her husband the governor, don Marcao, live there.  The heroes have been at a ball there and Lucas sneaked in once or twice.
• (9) The Marketplace: This is where much of the heroes wheelings, dealings, information-gathering, and contact with "Pablo Urchino del Gutter" took place.
