"Summer Of '69"

A song parody by Sophie.  Original © 1984 Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance (it didn't rhyme either.)

I saw my first revolution
In Charouse trying to save the Dauphin
Levesque d'Aur's severed fingers bled
It was the summer of '69

Me, Juan, Ferd, Meli and Lucas
Were heroes and we fought real hard
Ferd got rich, Meli got married
I shoulda known we'd never get far

Oh when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
From Cabora to Avalon
Sidhe Reavers, Domae and Thalusai
I just kept fighting for my life

Ain't no use in complainin'
When your ship takes water by the bow
The Maris Stella sank like a brick and
Lucas gave away his noble title

Standin' on the balcony
Of Emperor Leon's Sun Castle
And watching him hang Jerome
I knew that it was now or never
Every noble running for his life
Back in the summer of '69

Juan was just killin' brutes
We were young and restless
We needed a new ship
I guess nothin' can last forever – forever, no

And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Sometimes when I miss my Pirate King
I think about then, wonder what went wrong

Standin' on MacEachern Moor
Scary ass-kicking bugs in our face
Oh even Ferd had his hands full
I knew that it was now or never
I'd better start fighting for my life
Back in the summer of '69
