This Montaigne sorcerer and expert fencer won a duel against Lucas in Freiburg, but Lucas then joined forces with Baronet Vlad to defeat him. D'Aur then captured Lucas's former fiancée, doña Salvadora Veronica. He killed her, cut off her head, and sent it back to Lucas in a cask of wine. Melisandre and Juan intercepted the present, however, and disposed of the remains before telling Lucas of it (after a few days' reflection). With righteous anger, Lucas then sought out d'Aur but the Montaigne forced him to duel against him and another fellow in an unfair duel in retaliation for their earlier uneven fight. Lucas was defeated and Lévesque d'Aur stole his sword, a valuable and treasured Aldana blade, only to send it back to Lucas' father don Andrès with a tale of Lucas' death. He then kidnapped Melisandre in La Reina del Mar, but she was rescued before he could carry her off to Charouse. Another run-in with Lucas followed when the heroes to Freiburg. When they were sent to Montaigne on a diplomatic mission in Julius 1669, they learned that d'Aur was part of the Empereur's secret police. Lucas defeated him in a third duel, scarred him and cut his fingers, but let him live. |
