Baronet Vlad is a practioner of Pyeryem magic. He is of stout heart and body, but tends to overlook social complexities, and as a result he came uncomfortably close to angering his dangerous cousing in Ussura. Vlad met Lucas, Juan and Constanza in Avalon, while he was on his way to Castille where his cousin the Gaius had just posted him as envoy. It was never clear whether his assignment was a reward or a punishment.
Vlad immediately decided to accompany the Castillans, figuring he would eventually end up back in Castille. However, the travels stretched on and Vlad never really took his post, a fact which probably contributed to the Gaius' growing displeasure. Eventually, Vlad found himself the target of an Ussuran assassin in Freiburg, and received the visit and warning of Koshchei the Undying himself. At this point, Vlad decided to return to Ussura to straighten matters out with the Gaius.
