The heroes first encountered him while hunting for the Bonita's treasure; the dread pirate walked away with said treasure and Constanza nearly died from the encounter. Then not too long after, Constanza faced him again in a convoluted adventure that ended, thanks to a mad Fate Witch, by having never happened quite that way. She did however retrieve the cargo of Syrneth artefacts some of Reis's men were transporting, thereby moving up a few notches on the villain's gift list for the Prophets' Mass.
In early 1669, Reis started on a murdering spree in coastal Castille, and leaving Constanza's name written in blood at the site of his masscres. As soon as the heroes headed for the high seas on a mission, Reis's Crimson Roger pursued them relentlessly. They were saved by the help of Philippe Gosse and his Gentlemen Pirates, but Reis pursued them all to the Spear of the West Wind in the Trade Sea.
Things escalated during the race for Cabora, until the Crimson Rogers and the heroes reached the Sixth Switch. Constanza, armed with the Sword of the Nibelungen, defeated and slew Reis.
