they managed to gain her temporary help in order to convince General Montegue
to leave with his armies.
| The Matushka is apparently an embodiement of the land of Ussura, an
extremely powerful spirit. She is the one who chooses the Gaius.
The Montaigne army discovered the terrifying might of her wrath when they
attempted to invade Ussura.
