| Don Marcao is widely known and despised as the man who betrayed Barcino
to the Montaigne invasion. In thanks, he was installed as puppet
governor of the occupied province of Torres.
The heroes came in contact with him when they discovered that doña Veronica Rodriguez, Lucas's former fiancée, had been been forced to marry him. He turned down all Lucas's challenges to duels. In Decimus 1668, after Lucas turned don Marcao's twin brother Marcus over to the Montaignes, Marcus was installed as the new governor of Torres and the Montaigne authorities announced that don Marcao and doña Veronica had been executed. |
