Don Juan was a disenfranchised noble, storyteller, and practitioner of the sorcerous art of El Fuego Adentro, but is now a Kreutzritter. Played by Dominick DiGregorio.
The bulk of Juan's family lands were in the province of Torres, and have been seized by the occupying Montaignes, leaving him a roving don. He is a cousin of Constanza and a nephew of Admiral Enrique Orduño, who considers him with a certain benevolence since he is a sailor.
Don Juan acquired a mysterious Syrneth artefact on Claw Island, during the adventure of The Bonita's Treasure. The object is a claw-like gauntlet, made of an unusual metal. Upon trying the gauntlet, Juan discovered two important facts about it: (1) it increases his physical strength (+1 Brawn); (2) it can't be removed. Then after a few months the gauntlet also started sporting tentacles! However, Juan somehow learned to control another of the artefact's properties, a cloaking effect which let it appear as a normal hand. Finally, after the heroes performed a service for the Queen of the Sky during their forced visit to Bryn Bresail and were granted a wish, Juan asked and was granted that the claw be removed.
Juan's mother, also a practioner of El Fuego Adentro, was murdered. His sister Rosa, a beautiful and pious scholar who is also in possession of a strange Syrneth artefact, did not know this when she left for Vodacce; she had been pressuring both Juan and their mother to give up sorcery.
Juan then studied with Die Kreutzritter who helped him severe his ties to Bargain Sorcery, and learn instead their Nacht Sorcery. He became their secret agent; from 1669 to 1674, he cut his hair, shaved his beard, and travelled Castille as a minstrel named Velasquez, conducting missions for the Black Crosses.
