What, you don't think Inquisitors are monsters? We think so. These over-caffeinated soldiers of Theus like to dress up as supervillains and roast our heroes, no matter how pious, honourable, renowned, or well-armed the latter are. Our heroes have tangled several times with the red-robed vigilantes, and were at one point excommunicated en masse for helping don Juan escape them, although they were later pardoned by Cardinal Verdugo. Finally, in Corantine 1669, the dark secret of the Inquisition became known thanks to the machinations of the Grijalva family and the efforts of the heroes: the Knight Inquisitors, the elite of Inquisition, partake in a Blood ritual that gives them unique sorcerous powers. This form of magic is one of the forms of Bargain Sorcery that had been thought lost; it allows the Knight Inquisitors to read thoughts. The Inquisition was officially disbanded, but the Knight Inquisitors disappeared and the organisation became a secret society. Both Los Vagos and the King's Guards have been trying hard to extirpate it. |
