After losing a leg from a cannonball, Gaspar became cook on Captain Gosse's ship, the Unchartered Course.  He was such a horrible cook that the entire crew chose to pool their earnings to send him to learn cooking in  Montaigne and he became a fabulously good chef. 

The heroes met Gaspar when they joined forces with Philip Gosse and his Gentlemen, agaisnt the Black Freighter.

Gaspar was killed by Comte Robert de Méchant and his undead minions, but not without cutting a bloody swath through their ranks..
