Commander of the Montaigne Southern Front in Castille, known as the "Butcher of San Juan" for his complete destruction of that city. Brother of Captain Gérald Etalon du Toille. He received his scar at the siege of Barcino, where don Marcao de Ochoa betrayed the town to him.
The heroes met the Butcher in person at a party given by Duchess Lillianne Deneuve de Surligne at the Paix embassy. He publically insulted Melisandre, forcing Lucas to demand a duel. Lucas agreed to let Sebastiano Biancastro champion Melisandre instead, but then discovered that the general had manoeuvred a poor sap, Michel d'Arrent into dying as his "champion" -- all in order to have the opportunity to present his official apology to Melisandre at the Empereur's court.
From what they learned of Michel d'Arrent, who did in fact survive, the heroes know that the general returned from the siege of Barcino a changed man. Before the siege, he had been a reliable, if unremarkable commander; since then he has been wildly erratic. He has been getting rid of his entire cadre of former officers since he returned to Montaigne.
