The queen united Avalon, Inismore, and the Highland Marchess ten years ago when she retrieved a powerful magical artefact from Bryn Bresail, the Graal. The heroes met her when they were introduced by Bors MacAllister, at Derwyddon's request.
The Sea Lady Meryth claims that Elaine is her mother, and extracted from Lucas a promise that he would kill the Queen. In Septimus 1669, matters came to a head and the heroes were able to help Queen Elaine retrieve the Grail, which had been stolen. Relations between Castille and Avalon have been much warmer since.
