It's not clear what that creature was, but it was it's been described by those who saw it as a large but shrivelled ape-like creature of tremendous strength and power. It lived in the sewers of Freiburg and wore a strange collar of Syrneth origin; as it turned out, a small depression in the collar was an exact match for a Syrneth music box that deactivated collar and monster.
It is in the fight against this creature, during the Music of the Spheres adventure, that Ferdinand lost his life – only to be brought back to life by Saint Gregor himself!
Recent dealings with the Sidhe, the Constructs, and the Thalusai have led the heroes to believe that the creature may have been an insane Domae, imprisoned by other races. When freed from the collar for good by the work of a Construct (Octavus 1669), the Domae behaved in a much more sedate manner and looked much less gaunt.
